Day 1 Of the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail (KIWT) 13km
Picke dup on Day 1 at 8.30am on the bus and taken just past the current entrance station and shown the way to the Platypus walk and signage to follow for the day.
We all started together and I was at the back to try to get footage and heading off on the loop to the platypus holes but I could only hear a splash and no sign of them in the water.
there are two other girls just in front of me,, sometime behind me but they are much quicker walkers doing the same trail.
The fires have decimated the forests but you can see the regrowth and we did spot some kangaroos early on the trail. After that not a thing. As I was last i caught up the 3 other ladies at a rest stop near the road and we continued on, sometimes overtaking them when I hadnot taking much footage. We stopped at a waterfull and I set up the DJI OM4 gimble with the tripod, my first trip with it and before I get to the waterfall spot it falls into the water with my phone and all. I rush back but I have to take off my shoes before entering the waist deep water to retrieve the gimbal. The phone records everything but the gimble is useless thereafter. The lights on but no ones home.
Rocky River trail runs off Platypus trail, 1 lane trail. Arrived 1.00pm at the carpark to be picked up by the bus. The other 2 girls are waiting as well up the road, who are also on our bus and staying at our campground but must have missed the bus we were on at the start.
We all head back which only takes 20minutes or so and have lunch back at the campground.
