Day 11 Fringe Lily Creek to Brinkley Bluff. 14.6km Very Hard 7.7 - 14.2 degrees. 530m down 940m up
Left at 8.00am after waking up at 6.30am. Up the steep climb to razorback trying to follow the track but occassionally heading off it due to the signage my way certainly not as good as going the other way. On the climb I could see where I was camping last night most of the way which I didnt realise at the time I was camping there. At razorback it sure was a narrow ridge. You could possibly camp at the lookout if you wanted to get some more distance than Fringe Lily Creek.
At Windy Saddle on the way down I had morning tea break. I could feel a hamstring strain going up the steps but not enough to do anything about it. After the saddle it was creek hopping down the steep creek and then more creek walking to to hit a sharp left turn where the hill on the left has been burnt towards . Now I understand what a girl said at Rocky Gully about no more creek walks I hope.
Following the contour lines of the hills to the Shelter at Junction4/5 12.00 midday. Some older ladies with full backpacks came in who I swear were around 80 years of age , one feeling sore who were off to Birthday Waterhole to camp for the night.
Lunch and a short chat to those who were there then I decided to move on to either Brinkley Bluff or Stuarts Pass campsite. It was quite easy walking along the river and suddenly Im at Stuarts Pass so I give Brinkly Bluff the go ahead to camp at tonight. Well safter crossing the dry river bed it was up up up hill. THen when I think I only have to get across the hill and up the short track ahead of me I can see zig zagging up the to the saddle I thought Brinkley was on the right not the left. No I was wrong and leant that as soon as I got to that second saddle. The track went straight up the hill and I could not see the top. This required me to stop a number of times to suck in the O2 plus my legs were getting tired. Plenty of switch backs.
Finally at the top I could see the views 360 around and the campsites surrounded by rocks. I find a good one nearly surrounded by rocks with sunset views. The clouds were coming in but I couldnt see any rain. I had 3g service for messages and I look at the BOM rain radar image but no rain but also as it was from the Airport it only goes 250km from there and any further was unrealiable but I could see a few gaps in the clouds so thought all good.
Off to the Rock Cairn for the photo plus taking a photo for 4 other people.
By 7.00pm when in bed it started to rain, not pouring but it went all night. Despite this I fell asleep quite easily.
