Day 2 KIWT 16km ish

Wake up to the kookaburras this morning. A bit warmer last night, 13 degrees and a little rain. Wore walking pants, balaclava and rain jacket came off, puff jacket so just had my theremals, shirt and new hoody, buff, shorts, thermals and skins, no gloves.

worked out the vestible to hook up the outer flaps.

Head is just below the actual tent so everytime you lift it up you get wet head. Trying to get the sleeping mat on the opening sid eas it seems the drier side. A bit of snoring around as they put a newby right next to the cycling lady when you have so many sites they have us right next to each other. She didnt sleep very well because of the snoring but is heading out to the Remarkable roacks area today.

Kids from Port Augusta have arrived and were getting there lunches ready for their day as they take over the kitchen but there is still plenty of room on our side. Theres a little barrier to separate the groups.

Carrying a small backpack with lunch today and 2 litres of water.

Today is a later start to take us where we were dropped off yesterday but this time we turn right at the Rocky River intersection on the Maupertuis with Snake Lagoon hike first.Today takes us along the Rocky River to the mouth but just before we cross over the river and then up and along the cliffs losing the trail and I best guess. We see 1 kangaroo hop inland. Im now not at the back and move rot the front as we walk along the cliff then down on to the beach. The sand is very soft and hard yakka but pleasant with the waves rolling in and a few plovers running on the beach. Its then a steep climb back up on the cliffs until a track along the power lines is taken to get to the lighthose and Cape De Couedic. i don't know how but I'm at the front when Im taking videos and photos and miles ahead of everyone but we all meet up at the Cape and I head back to the lighthouse I missed to take some more footage and am walking down to the car park when the bus overtakes me and I'm the last to get on.

I did have a lunch break on top of the cliffs managing to get a sheltered rocky bit to protect me from the gales. Great walk today, very challenging on the cliffs as there is only sort of a track and it was tough. Its at a Rock Cairn about 1km from the 4wd road.

Admirals arch at the bottom and some seals basking in the sun, really rough, salt spray coming up over the cliffs on this windy day.

I arrived a tthe bottom around 1.00pm. I took the KIWT trail instead of the trail thay told us about missing the 3 housing that I went back to.

2.15 was the last one arriving at the car park
