Day 2 Rebank creek bed to Hilltop Lookout, 3.8 degrees -24.5 degrees. 17.1km
7am wake up and bake beans and 2 cups of tea plus left over peaches for breakfast. 2 litres of water from the shelter water tank and a 8.50am start. a little slow start but it is first day of packing the whole pack.
I walk to Rocky Bar gap, a 12km walk where I reach at 11.40am and fill up again with water plus the 3 L bag. The quality of the track is good and I did not come across anyone either way. Its so quiet and peaceful I can't hear a thing except the ringing in my own ears. I keep my fluids up and drink regularly.
No one 's at Rocky Bar but it did have water camping sites, shady and a toilet. Unfortunately I think I had left behind the trowel and toilet paper and rely on 3 sheets of paper for 2 days as Rocky Bar does not have toilet paper. Quite a challenge of using only 1 sheet. Only 3.4km to go but it does require a steep walk to the top. I have lunch and a cup of tea then leave at 1.00pm through the dry Rocky Bar gap, a little walk on the flat then steep walk to the top. I arrive at 3.10pm at the top (1010m) and have a choice of any campsite as there is no-one there. I find the most shady , not necessarily the most scenic. I set the drone up for a fly around, less nervous this time but forgot to press the record butotn for half the flight.
I have full view of Mt Sonder.
Very little wind and relatively warm-sweating as soon as you get walking especially with a full pack of food and 5 litres of water. A great sunset and perfect night for sleeping.
