Day 20 Gleesons Landing to Corny Point Caravan Park
Boy I was lucky not to camp nearer to the beach as the young people did carry on into the night.
Packed up the tent and breakfast of the usual made and toilet stop I was raring to go.
Down the sandy trail to the beach past the fishing/crayfishing boats/accommodation and along the coast. Today there was going to be some road walking along Lighthouse Road but its a quiet dirt road.
An unexpected delight was the little bays with fantastic coloured water and isolated from everyone along the way. Today was a delight in the stunning coastline and bays towards and just past the Lighthouse at Corny Point.
Along the way there was a school being instructed in how to surf as I walke dup the stairs to Berry Bay beach. Then after morning tea down to the Berry Beach towards the lighthouse. Just before the cliffs started and beach ends theres another set of stairs. A few people there taking photos and my legs were feeling it going up. I end up following the road out and then left road towards the lighthouse as I could not see any directional markers that short cuts to the lighthouse and I didnt check the map exactly there and then but viewed it hours ago to get some idea of where I needed to go.
Lunch at the lighthouse away from the wind which is quite difficult on account of the round building and wind wrapping around but get a good laugh at some instagrammers taking photos of the magnificent bay next to the lighthouse and the different poses they are producing.
Then it was my turn for a snap and a video giong to the bay and upon leaving it. Certainly rates in my top 10 beaches.
Around the point trail and onto the beach where large flock of birds have gathered in the shallows before hitting the dirt road and around into Dunn Point with its shelter, water fill up and some history of the area. Its here I recheck the map and the options of beach or road walk into Corny Point caravan park.
I start on the beach which is white and there are cars on the beach but then sea weed and higher tide and soft sand makes the choice to now hit the road past the shop where I fill up on food then road walk into the caravan park.
Nice park with a school group at the front area and I have a choice of where I can erect the tent. I wait awhile for the wind direction, learnt the hard way , befor epitching the tent.
Into the kitchen for battery charging, shower time and food and cups of tea. The school group arrives and take over the kitchen and another group has a fire going just outside. The nights are getting cold and I warm up my hands on the fire but head to the pub for dinner before having a cup of tea and check my recharging batteries around the noise and bustling of the group and teachers.
One of the teachers asks what Im doing and she has done some of the trail but not all.
