Day 22 Lenny Barkers to Point Turton

Just a short 5km or so walk today, and after yesterdays long walk in the heat very welcomed.

Still a strong wind today so hopeful of a sheltered camp spot in the caravan park. A little of rain overnight but no worry. Mattress getting a little leak though. Down to 14 degrees celcius last night.

8.30pm departure. Carying 1 litre water. Off along the road today all the way but very few cars at this time in the morning.

Past the ditch to drain an inland lake with a bridge over the drain gave me a clue to where I was on the road. Past lots of houses now that seemed to be occupied but most vacant. The farms on the right and the houses are on the left. Past an old swimming shed with is a name we used to give the change room and toilets that used to be on the beaches in Adelaide like Moana Beach, long gone now as I wonder where all the sewerage went? But there are no roofs and they smelt just the same as 50 years ago when I would change to get your bathers on or off after a swim. Once you hit the bitumen the cars are required to travel at 25km an hour so safe walking.

Past the pub which is closed today and on the left down on the coast is the caravan park tucked away out of the wind and right next to the jetty.

I get a spot near the toilets and washing machines and the camp kitchen is a little way on the other side but has 3 sides, TV, plenty of places to recharge the batteries and hang out out of the wind and cold come night time. I have a package at the Post Office so after just dropping off my gear on the concrete block, washing some undies I head off into the shop and post office along the main road then have to check google maps for where it is on the main road again, a bit further up, like its the last thing on the left which looks like a house than shop. I get my parcel and stock up on lunch food then head back to caravan park a different way, knowing Ill come back for dinner and have to walk back again.

I have plenty of time today as I checked in at the caravan park around 10.00am , they have all been good like that. Off along the jetty, into the kitchen for cups of tea, check on my drying clothes and a bit of lie down time. One of the tings is a good spot to get a sunrise over the jetty so up to the top of the park near the flash cottages for the right spot I hope.

Well people come rolling in all day and the park gets fuller but I am yet to erect the tent waiting on the wind direction and best sheltered spot. I chea ta bit and move to the next spot and move the bins for more shelter form the wind to set up my tent. As sun sets its getting cold and Im watching the news on the TV in the Kitchen after getting some Indian food from the Post office/shop travelling to and from there on a different route.

Plenty of breakfast left no lunches and no hydration satchels and 1 dinner left over. As at Corny Point I bought jam and that makes lunch much more enjoyable to eat it all.
