Day 24 Port Minlacowie to Port Rickaby
No traffic at all last night along the road next to the bunker.
A little but of rain and used the umbrella as sheter from the wind to light the gas but during the night moved it to over my head to prevent the rain from spraying over my head.
Plenty of breakfast, half left.
Now rashening toilet paper as there was none at the campground and unsure of whether its available for up until POrt Rickaby caravan Park.
8.20am start from Port Minlacowie bunker for the walk along the road past the shelter to restart along the beach. The tide is low so good for walking along.
For lunch Ive got cheese and salami.
Coastline is interesting with flat rocks shelf, sand then rocks and of course seaweed right along with large sandunes on the right. Some shacks here and there in front of the sandunes.
So with the tripod iphone attachment lost Ive been trying to use sticks and rocks to get images of myself.
Left knee is sore and right leg is fine now. No ibuprofen taken for a couple of days.
Contacted my brother to say Ill be finished up on the 30th or 31 of the month to see if I could be picked up. Ive booked the airfare back for Tuesdy the 7th so have to be back in Adelaide by then.
I follow the inland route into Parson Beach but from then on instead of heading inland again I walk along the beach . Just near Parsons Beach I saw four dolphins in close to the beach just swimming around in paris. Plenty of bird life to spot though by now Ive seen them all. past Barker Rocks. Its perfect beach day for walking and I couldnt understand why you needed to not walk along the beach. Is it because its a conservation area then why have bloody cars and bikes driving along then. As long as you stay away form the sand dunes area where there might be birds nests youre right in my books.
Just before Port Rickaby there is an easy walkway built into the Jetty and caravan park. No real town as such, the caravan park office is also the local shop.
Cool drink and check out the menu for a dinner before setting up and the far end of the park but close to the kitchen. Once again great kitchen where I can close the doors to warm up and chill out while charging up the batteries. A hot shower was welcomed as well as short walk up to the viewing platform on top of a small hill was a killer and a relaxing walk along the jetty too. Its always cold on the jetties with the wind chill factor coming off the sea.
