Day 27 Balgowan to Cape Elizabeth
someone I spoke to along the way or in the caravan park mentioned yu could camp at Cape Elizabeth so that was an option for me but a long walking day though.
Today started with breakfast bought from the shop last night as the kiosk was closed then a nice walk along the cliff top past the expensive houses befor eit hits the inland road but still some glompses of the water in spots and some roads to camping areas or lookout point just a short stroll to the left 100m or so. I check a few and go for a short long cut along a 4wd track that I think is taking me to the trail and road but it goes nowhere so some bush bashing to get back onto the road.
Eventually I hit the Gap campsite and its packed with no water at the shelter water tank, but some 100m back at the toilet wash basin so fill up with 2 water bottles and decide to walk to Cape Elizabeth. This would cut the walk in half which was a good distance I think about 26km so up with the longest walking day of the trip.
A fantastic walk along the beach all the way to the Cape but as you go closer to the cape there are 4wd roads cutting through the sandhills which is disappointing and then at the Cape being a Sunday people are packing up their shit and leaving with their motorbikes. There's a caravan type vehicle right on the Cape but I move into a shed which has a mattress and chairs to sit in, so Ive struck it good.
The bogans left behind rubbish all over the place and tins and beer cans in a fire pit. This has put a real dampener on the trip which haallowed me to see beautiful nature and today I see the worst of human beings. Theres toilet paper even lying on the ground behind trees and in pkaces where people have definately done their business.
I did leave a comment to the council about this as it could be a fantastic camping area.
I can see the finishing spot around the bay and set up the drone for last pictures of the beautiful beaches and colour of the sea. I loved the couloured round rocks of pinks, blues and everything in between on the beach all round by the waves of the ocean.
