Day 3 Vivonne Bay campground to Western KI CP

Started the day with a little walk along the creek to the beach and back before having breakfast under the shelter. Most people in the campground are still sleeping.

With the gear packed up I stow most of it in the bushes, battery on a powered site and head off towards the jetty at the point. Its a road that you need to come back this way before heading off to Western KI campground.

Some other people are at the Point trying to take photos and just others are part of a tour group with an Italian or Spanish leader.

On the way back I went back to the shelter for morning tea and water and headed off down the road for 1km or so when I realised i didnt have anything on my back so had to go back to pick up my pack and then head to the Vivonne store for a Whiting burger around 11.30am ish before setting off down the main road towards the Western KI. About 10km down the road I realise I have left my battery still on the pwered site back at the campground. I immediately dump my gear and a water bottle near a track to a farm gate behind some bushes before racing off wha tappears to be downhill to a dirt road short cut to the campground. I pick up the battery and get some more water before taking off again on the dirt road and what appears is uphill to the bags spot. I made sure to recognise the location as the tracks all look similar and the speedo km would be out because of the different way i took the first time, as I didnt want to re zero the odometer at the bag drop site.

What would have been an easy 38km ride turns into a long trip but I reach the caravan park about 2.30-2.45pm anyway. Its nice though I am located on the road side but it has a good shop and great kitchen and dining area that I can charge up my phone etc. I spot the lady from the ferry coming in and they put her right next to me, she is also a fellow cyclist. She has come all the way from Perth, over 60 too. Kona bike and Brooks saddle.

I start the KI Wilderness trail at 8.30am tomorrow. No platypusses at the campground but there are Koalas, kanagaroos, Cape Barron Geese and more wildlife you can throw a stick at.
