Quinninup to Pemberton 40km
Departure at 7.30am. The weather was colder than previously with the beanie and wet weather pants on plus my long sleeve thermal top on but today I decided to take all the tracks on the trail, and so the first was a left into the forest then back out to the same road. Not sure if the trail makers realised one large tree looks the same as another but it kept me off the bituman road, that has no cars on it. Later I asked Claudia who had her chain break at Donnelly where she stayed and she said she stayed in a cabin and took the main road before going right onto the trail. So I thought I was stupid taking the left trail to go around in a circle almost.
Cross the main road and onto a well maintained trail in the national park, a digger or grader had been through.. This continued until you hit the main road that goes into Pemberton. Off along some dirt road past plenty of forests and some farmland, orchard and a lake with black swans, then back into forest until you get close to the other main road from Pemberton to Manjimup road. Instead of crossing the main road and hitting the trail to get int the back of Pemberton I take a quiet bituman road (Kings Road) and then a few kilometers on the main road and come into town along the main road just before 12.00.
Drone issue , it didn't like to follow me. At another go it works fine.
Into the IGA shops for some lunch gear then into the camping ground 12.30pm where you were allocated a site number. It was going to be busy as there was a Targa South West race on right next door for that day and the next. So we had these Porshes and even an old Ford Escort trying to go as fast as possible around a circuit for the next few hours.
Once set up the tent it was a walk into town again for dinner food and more food cache then back into the campgrounds kitchen for charging up batteries and dinner. I get GF Corn flakes as the next two places i can get milk.
No soap in showers.
I also walk to find this historic tramway only to find it has closed down but their are a couple of old trains at the station.
I also get $100 from the ATM.
At about 10.00pm when Ive been asleep since 7.30pm someone sets up their camp next door. While they tried to be quiet, come on, really. Why me. Welcome to the caravan park life in a big town.
Occassional sprinkle today but not enough to worry about rain clothes on.
