Nglang Boodja to Donnybrook

Woke up at 6.44am. Left the hut at 8.00am after a good nights sleep along the dirt track then uphill and some hiker bike to warm me up. Some single track along the way, warm day and quiet evening, no birds to wake me up unlike Collie.

Reached Wellington Forest Discovery Centre after some single track and came across a kangaroo . Some more single track  through the Wellington National Park.

Got cooler around 3am last night but the day is warm around 33 degrees celcius.

Some gravel road and farmland  today and really the first time through farmland. Have been trying to get some video of the black cockatoos and today I could only get them sitting in trees, not flying with the red

Came past Butcher Road and thought about the whether it was the family of Butchers I know who come from this area.

Bituman road up to Crooked Brook Forest when a police car asked whther I was ok. I also came across another 2 people coming the other who didnt stop to chat.

A bit of a slog to get up to the Forest and leaving the dirt road through the nature reserve was a waste of time.

I stopped for a toilet break at the Crooked Brook Forest rest area, they had toilets picnic table and bit of a playground and some short walks around.

Then it was gravel road and bituman into Boyanup, a bit of a detour required 1km or so but worth a morning tea stop at the local shop arriving at 10.30am. Had a GF toastie which was great, milky bar, small chips for takeaway and a gatorade..Heavy traffic on the main road so glad I've been on the gravel. Back to the T junction and a long bituman section along Hurst Road then via the backway around the water treatment section into Donnybrook.  You could tak ethe freeway with plenty of room on the side but plenty of trucks, some forestry logging tracks

$33 a site. The only tent site is at the cricket ground, transit stop. Went into the info centre and could book on line for a site but unfortunately booked too close to the toilets and rubbish bins and effluent hole. You get a code for the showers online by email but didnt come so rang again no luck but other people could tell you anyway. A few overseas people including an Israeli guy who told me about the Israel National trail taking 2 months, whose  doing farmwork around the area so they got going early the following day. Some caravaners as well but not many.

Down the road was an IGA  supermarket and so I got a great dinner, roast beef and vegetables, aready cooked so just needed to reheat, plus plenty of junkfood and other stuff. Chocolate, yogurt, chocolate milk, gatorade, fruit salad, tea bags.

As I was in town early and had the energy I went for a walk along their river or creek and it was fairly pleasant to start to see the big trees along the banks and the ducks in the river.

Tomorrow  I head back up the hill 1-2km on the bituman past the high school and come to an intersection with the incoming trail but take a left turn towards Jarrahwood.

I also booked my TransWA bus booking from the Info centre having access to the internet. They only take 2 bikes max so thought I'd get in early, knowing I'm on track and knowing when I'll get into Albany barring any trouble.
